Birmingham Social Investment Trust (BSI Trust)

“new media community builders – adding social value”

The Objective – Social and Economic renewal

The Birmingham Social Investment Trust (BSI Trust) is a not for profit company, founded by Martin Field Bsc (Hons) MRICS with Ken Fisher of APEC Architects and Dawn Roberts of Headline Communications and is set up for the people of Birmingham.
..
Our aim is to explore innovative methods to improve the quality of life for citizens in Birmingham and specifically Ladywood, which has some of the worst worklessness and child poverty records in the UK, through the use of ‘new media’ to identify and encourage capacity builders or social entrepreneurs to engage with their communities, the business sector and their representative officials. The intention is to help citizens to gain the digital tools to feel confident enough to make beneficial changes to their community without the need or reliance on the public sector or the public purse.

OUR AIM

  • To encourage participatory democracy for all citizens
  • To reduce digital exclusion and provide a legitimate platform through new digital media to encourage capacity builders to engage with each other, the business community and representative officials
  • To assist active citizenship and encourage people to rebuild society from the bottom up
  • To provide mutual benefit for ‘knowledge partners’ of the Trust
  • To encourage and assist citizens to engage with representative officials, business and each other and to create a cohesive voice
  • To examine the use of public assets for greater community good and encourage private sector investment
  • To provide consultation expertise and research in social renewal and to improve efficiencies in the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility

BSI Trust is a not for profit company based in Birmingham and set up to benefit communities and to foster greater engagement with the business community and vice versa.
